23A - Your Venture's Unfair Advantage
Generate a list of all of the resources in your venture (produce a list of at least 10 resources that you already possess). This can include your human capital, social capital, financial capital, and capabilities. You may also discuss the organizational culture you intend to create (but, obviously, it's not a resource that you have, now.)
1. Hours of Operation: Most active during general store hours 7am-11pm. The app is pretty much active 24/7
Valuable - Customers want to be able to rely on this app whenever they go shopping
Rare -
Imitable - Others can copy this
Non-Substitutable - there are resources that can provide the same benefit
2. Customer Service: Is offered 24/7 for the application. Customer Satisfaction is key.
Valuable - Customers appreciate good customer service. If they are satisfied with the application, then they are more likely to keep using it
Rare -
Imitable - No one else will have the same style of customer service.
Non-Substitutable - there aren't any resources to provide the guidance necessary to create a good customer service agent; therefore, my training is unique.
3. Sales Experience: I worked at kiosks and stores at malls
Valuable - First-hand experience with customers
Rare - Only I have the knowledge gained from this work
Imitable - Others that worked similar positions may have acquired similar experience
Non-Substitutable - there aren't any resources that can provide the same results
4. Easy mobile access: Available on any device via device application store
Valuable - This makes it easier for the customer
Rare - Most apps are mobile nowadays, so in order to stay in the game, you must adapt and innovate.
Imitable - this can be copied
Non-Substitutable - other resources can be used to achieve the same results
5. Lack of Competitors: The only app of its kind as of now
Valuable - I look at these empty markets as opportunities, thus the value is the opportunity created from the empty market.
Rare - not available anywhere else
Imitable - people can copy this product
Non-Substitutable - people can acquire the resources to develop it
6. Social Capital: Greek Life
Valuable - The network of people I've created being a part of greek life is massive
Rare - others have access to it
Imitable - Others cannot copy the connections I make here
Non-Substitutable - there aren't any resources that can provide the same connections
7. Human Capital: Previous sales force experience
Valuable - this is a valuable skill to help
Rare - Only I have it
Imitable - others can be similar, but never the same
Non-Substitutable - there aren't any resources that can provide the same results
8. Financial Capital: I have an established business that I can allocate funds from.
Valuable - I need the money to start the company
Rare - Not everyone has a business to back them up from the start
Imitable - Others could possibly also have a company backing them
Non-Substitutable - Only this business will back me up
9. Social Capital: The network of future clients and associates that I've amassed
Valuable - this is valuable to me because
Rare - Only I know my network of clients and associates
Imitable - No one else has the same social capital
Non-Substitutable - There aren't any resources that can provide the same results
10. Clan Culture
My top resource is my lack of competitors. This idea is not available to the market and therefore it will be the only product of its kind. It's more important to my venture than all of the other resources because the lack of competition creates an opportunity in the market that I can take advantage of if I am the first to bring this product to the market.
Conduct a "VRIN" analysis for each resource. That is, describe, for each resource, how it is valuable, rare, inimitable (how hard it is to copy by others), and non-substitutable (are there other resources that can provide the same benefits?).

After conducting the VRIN analysis, determine what your top resource is. Explain why it's more important to your venture than all of the other resources.
